This bed was a challenge to assemble. It is delivered in 2 100lb boxes, and they are pretty long. It was a two person job to get it inside, so make sure you plan ahead. Second, the boxes aren't sorted by step, so I had to open both boxes to find the parts I needed. I don't know if it was a fluke, but one of the boards was not labeled, throwing the numbers of every other piece off by one. Best advice for assembly is 1) have a friend 2) use power tools and 3) sort all the pieces out ahead of time.I had some other issues with my order, I didn't have enough screws to secure the railing, ladder and the hardware for my top drawer was not functional. I reached out to the service department, and we worked things out. My bed is now assembled and I love it.I am 5'9 and weigh about 240 lbs. I have no issues using the loft bed or the desk area. I know some reviews allude to issues with weight, but I assure you there are plenty of wood slats to support the bed and my weight. There is some bending of the wood, which is normal because it is a soft, flexible wood. The flexing is not enough to worry anyone about boards snapping and it makes the bed really comfy. Overall, I am impressed with how sturdy the bed is.I love the desk area, it has enough space for me to spread out and work. As a college student and remote intern, this is the perfect solution for my small space. My daughter loves this bed. It took me quite some time to find an affordable option with enough height underneath for my daughter to stand and play with her kitchen set. In that respect, this bed does quite well.It came without damage and in the timeframe expected, however, it was utterly without instructions. Not much of a loss considering what other reviewers have said. I used the diagram image from the product photos on the listing to figure out which parts went where and logic did the rest, however, it was a challenge, especially assembling it on my own.My teen son had to help hold things up when it came to putting the assembled ends together into one piece, but it was otherwise manageable. There was one locknut that was missing the threading, but everything else was as needed. Some of the screws fit very tightly and that was hard on my tendonitis but better a tight fit than too loose.I do suggest taking the overall height of the bed into account as the room underneath is gained by putting the bed very near the ceiling in a standard home. I have a 10" memory foam mattress on it, and my kindergartner cannot fully sit up in bed because of this, but she can easily get in and out of bed and enjoys the bed emensely.Speaking of the mattress, they recommend the mattress not be thicker than 6" so that the guard rail will extend high enough over the mattress top to prevent falls, which is uncommon and I hadn't taken note of it before ordering. To make up for this, I ordered and installed a 22" guard rail inside the built in rail and falls are now impossible from the bed surface.I recommend bolting the bed to the wall on two sides, as near the top as possible for best sturdiness. For me, the included straps weren't going to cut it, so adding supports from scrap wood to the upper platform level and using those to bolt to the studs in my daughter's room was the safer option. Even without these, her 45lbs wasn't enough to shake the bed, but I still have to climb up to change linens and I'm no 45lbs.And there lies the main downside of loft beds. Making the bed and changing the linens are feats in acrobatics that ought to be employed in training circus performers, or at least used in mommy boot camp. That said, my daughter is very happy with her bed, I've added a sheer curtain and string lights and she has her private princess oasis.I'd buy from this company again, but be prepared for missing instructions and quality control issues like the locknut in exchange for the price. The manual was the worst laid out instructions ever. They were hard to follow and hard to see. Hardly made sense so we made sense out of the parts and where they were supposed to go. The material is cheap, and one of our knobs came apart when we tried to screw it on. I have submitted a replacement part request to who knows who. Thank goodness this isn’t furniture made to last 20 years and that hopefully my daughter will be over having this kind of bed in about 2-3 years so we can get her a real one. She really wanted one of these, so we did it for her but I’m not a fan at all. This is such a game-changer for my son. School in the time of covid is challenging enough. Adding a place to do the actual work in a small space was key.My son is 13 and 170 lbs (not fat, just SOLID). We needed to add extra slats under the mattress. The slats that come with the bed are pretty thin and bent A LOT when he was laying down - we were genuinely worried they were going to snap.Other than that, this is a great loft!! Takes a few hours to put it together, and it takes at least two people, but we'll worth it.Bed is wobblyDrawings are in mirror image {backwards and reverse} really weird. The long bench piece was cracked but built it anyways (not gonna stop building because one piece was cracked). Not enough tiny screws for the backing material but I always keep extra hardware for this situation. Overall my girl was really pleased with it, I like it. Not for toddlers that would climb on it!It took two people to out together but could have been done with one. My only real complaint is some of the wood on it is pretty cheap and the other is a bit better quality. This is exactly what I thought it would be, however it could be better with instructions with some words instead of just straight pictures. Certain parts needed flipping after getting so far along. A tad aggravating but all in all. It’s a good bed for a kid.
